Myself and the talented 1:8 scale driver Niklas Johansson, whom also recently switched to XRAY, took a long trip to the city of Växjö, where the first round of the South Swedish Indoor Series was held during the weekend of 20-21 October. We arrived well in time to practice on Friday night before the race. I had to adjust my set-up a little to adapt to the controlled Sorex 28 tires, as my set-up from the ETS race was not working that well from the start. The track is a lot smaller and also traction levels are not as high which explains the changes.
In the end I managed to find a good set-up and pace. I won all qualifiers, to take the overall TQ, two seconds in front of Niklas Johansson, and an other local XRAY driver, the recently crowned 1:10 nitro Swedish Champion, Markus Hellquist, also with a finishing time within 2 seconds of my own.
In the first A-final I managed to pull away to with a few seconds to hold this lead until the finish line. Hellquist was set back by a mistake and in the end it was the old and talented top driver Jonas Andersson who could take the 3rd spot.
The 2nd final started off much in the same way as I could pull away and win. Behind me there was a big fight going on between Johansson, Hellquist and the Yokomo driver Daniel Carlsson who all finished within 1 second of each other.
The 3rd final was going to determine the final podium positions. Markus Hellquist was in need of a win to beat Niklas but he could not pull it off as I won also the last final with ease. In the end Niklas Johansson finished 2nd in front of Markus Hellquist which rounded off an all XRAY T4 podium.
